Solar Panel Bird Proofing — Kiama

Keith fitted purpose-made bird-proofing mesh around a rooftop solar array in Kiama, closing the accessible gap beneath the panels while keeping the panel frames and roof drainage clear.

The challenge

The open space beneath rooftop solar panels can give birds a sheltered place to roost or nest. On this Kiama metal roof, the exposed perimeter needed a secure physical barrier that followed the panel edges and roof profile without obstructing water flow or affecting the working surface of the panels.

What we did

Keith installed durable mesh around the accessible perimeter of the array. The mesh was shaped to follow the corrugated metal roof and secured neatly at the panel edges, including the tighter internal corner shown in the project photo. The installation creates a continuous barrier while leaving the panel glass, roof fixings and drainage paths unobstructed.

The outcome

The previously open panel perimeter is now enclosed with a neat, low-profile mesh barrier. The finished installation helps prevent birds from getting beneath the array while preserving ventilation and rainwater flow across the metal roof.
