Ember Guard Installation

Ember guard is a fine, non-combustible mesh fitted over or behind vulnerable openings such as gutters, valleys and roof gaps. It is designed to reduce the chance of windborne embers entering the roof space or igniting debris inside gutters.

Burning embers can travel well ahead of a fire front. Fine mesh helps block them at vulnerable openings and also reduces the leaves and bark collecting inside gutters, where embers could otherwise start a fire.

No. No single product can make a home bushfire-proof. Ember guard helps reduce specific entry and ignition risks and should sit within a wider bushfire plan that includes vegetation management, clear access, water supply and a current survival plan.

Requirements depend on the property's BAL, building design and applicable approval documents. Your BAL assessment or building professional identifies what is required. Coast Flow can then recommend and install an appropriate product for the nominated areas.

BAL means Bushfire Attack Level. It describes a building's potential exposure to ember attack, radiant heat and direct flame contact. The levels range from BAL-LOW through BAL-FZ, with different construction requirements at each level.
