DIY Solar Panel Mesh Kits

The same panel mesh we install — cut to size, ready to fit.

What is diy solar panel mesh kits?

A DIY solar panel mesh kit is a made-to-measure pack of steel bird-proof mesh and no-drill clips sized for your specific solar array. You get the same components we use on paid installs, packed with clear instructions so a confident DIYer can install it themselves — without voiding panel warranties.

Coast Flow supplies DIY solar panel mesh kits made from the same durable Australian mesh and no-drill clips we use professionally. Send us your array layout and dimensions, we cut everything to size, colour-match the clips to your roof, and ship it with instructions.

Who it's for

Confident DIYers with rooftop solar who are comfortable working safely at height and want professional-grade bird proofing at DIY cost.

Recommended maintenance

One-off purchase. Annual visual inspection recommended.

Recommended aftercare

Once installed, give the mesh a quick visual check each year — usually when you clean the panels. Make sure no clips have shifted and no debris is building against the mesh edge.

Frequently asked questions

+Can I install solar panel mesh myself?

Yes, if you can safely work on the roof and use basic tools. Coast Flow DIY kits use the same mesh and no-drill clips as our professional installs.

+How do I measure my solar array for a mesh kit?

Count the panels, measure the perimeter of the full array in lineal metres, and send Keith a couple of photos. Keith confirms exactly what to include in your kit.

+Will DIY solar mesh void my warranty?

No. The clips grip the aluminium panel frame — nothing is drilled into the panel or the roof — so panel and inverter warranties remain intact.

+What's included in a DIY kit?

Pre-cut steel mesh sized to your array perimeter, no-drill clips in your chosen Colorbond® colour, joiners, corner pieces, and step-by-step written and video instructions.

+How long does DIY installation take?

A confident DIYer takes half a day to a full day on a standard residential array. Two people is safer and considerably faster.

+Do I need special tools?

No. Standard hand tools — pliers, tin snips, gloves and safety glasses — are enough. No drilling into panels or roof required.

+What safety gear should I use?

A rated ladder, harness where needed, gloves, safety glasses, non-slip footwear and appropriate roof access equipment. Never work on wet, hot or windy roofs.

+Can one person install the kit?

It's possible on smaller arrays but two people is strongly recommended for safety and to keep the mesh true while clipping.

+Do you ship across NSW?

Yes. DIY solar mesh kits ship right across NSW.

+What if I measure wrong?

Send photos and measurements before ordering — Keith will sanity-check them. If a small extra piece is needed later, we can supply it.

+Can I get phone support?

Yes. Free phone support from Keith is included with every kit.

+What colours are the clips?

Clips are available in the Colorbond® colour range to match your roof.

+Do the clips damage panel frames?

No. The clips are designed to grip the aluminium frame without piercing, scratching or stressing it.

+Can I install it on any panel brand?

Yes. The clips fit standard framed panels from all major manufacturers.

+Can I install it on tile roofs?

Yes. The mesh fixes to the panel frames, so the roof type underneath does not change the method.

+Can I install it on Colorbond roofs?

Yes. The same no-drill panel-frame clips are used on Colorbond and tile roofs alike.

+What if my array has multiple sections?

Multi-section arrays are fine — the kit is cut and packed for each section with its own perimeter and corners.

+Do I need to remove existing nests first?

Yes. Any nesting material, droppings and debris must be safely removed before installing mesh so nothing is trapped inside.

+How do I remove existing nests safely?

Wear gloves, an N95 mask and eye protection. Bag and dispose of the material, then hose down and let dry before installing the mesh.

+How long does the mesh last?

Quality steel mesh with UV-stable clips lasts the life of the solar system — typically 20+ years.

+Does the mesh affect solar output?

No. Perimeter mesh does not shade panels and does not block the airflow underneath that keeps them cool.

+Can I add to the kit later?

Yes. If you extend your solar array, contact Keith with your original order details and we'll match the mesh and clip colour.

+Can I return a kit?

Custom-cut kits cannot be returned for a refund. Unused general components may be exchanged where practical.

+Is this the same product Coast Flow installs professionally?

Yes. The mesh, clips and finishings in DIY kits are identical to those used on paid installs.

+Do I need council approval?

No. Perimeter mesh around solar panels is a maintenance modification and does not require council approval in most NSW council areas — check with your local council if unsure.

+What about tilt-frame arrays on flat roofs?

Tilt-frame arrays can be proofed as well — send photos so Keith can spec the kit to close both the panel perimeter and the sides of the tilt frames.
